Digital Components : XM Radio : Is the XM signal available outside of the U.S.? Print send FAQs by e-mailask a questionwrite comment
Question:I will be travelling with my XM radio system. Is the signal available outside of the continental U.S.?

Answer:Although the Xm signal from their orbiting satellite are concentrating their signal on the continental U.S., it has also been reported to be working on many neighboring countries as well.

XM Radio has recently been awarded a licence to broadcast their signal into Canada. The XM signal extends to most all parts of southern and Northern Canada and it has also been reported to be receivable in portions of Alaska.

Reception of the XM signal has also been reported in many parts of Mexico and also as far away as Puerto Rico and farther. There have also been reports of reception in Hawaii as well.

If you live in a far fringe area, you should consult with a local satellite retailer before purchasing any equipment.

In order to give the website a better focus, we are phasing out the less popular areas of the site, including the high definition and digital video recorder areas and forums. This will leave the site focused on digital satellite television and satellite radio.
