| Answer: | The XM Delphi MyFi xm2go is the most versatile and complete receiver package available. The unit is self-contained and comes with a built in antenna and battery that lasts about 5 hours. Where the XM Satellite signal may not be available or hard to receive, there is a feature that allows you to schedule recording of approximately 5 hours of XM's programming for listening in any location. Users can scroll thorugh the playlist, song-by-song through the entire recorded session. For use in the car, the MyFi comes with a car kit with its own 12 volt power supply, cradle and vehicle antenna. For the home, a homecradle, power suply and antenna is included. The MyFi also has a built in FM transmitter to send the XM Radio programming to your vehicle's radio or home stereo or any FM boombox without cables if you so desire making use of this unit in any location a snap.
The Roady and Roady 2 are the smallest of the XM receivers. They feature a selectable 7 color display, and come complete with an antenna, cigarette lighter adapter, and cassette player adapter. The Roady does not use cradles. They have the power, audio out, and antenna connectors right on the unit, making it the least expensive way to start enjoying XM in your vehicle. It does not work in any boomboxes currently, but a specil boombox for the Roady will be out before the end of the year with a rechargeable battery. The Roady 2 come with a built in FM modulator, while the Roady does not, but a separate wireless FM modulator can be purchased. The Cabridge Soundworks XM Playdock is a great boombox for either Roady featuring a 10 hour built-in rechargeable battery and excellent sound quality.
The Skyfi and Skyfi 2 are the most versatile of the units, and are only slightly larger than the Roady, and has an expanded display. It uses cradles (sold separately, or as "bundles") that are permanently mounted in various locations, to quickly move from your car, to the home, or boombox. The Skyfi 2 is the latest in this line offering extended titles, a built-in FM modulator, stock and sports tickers, and a 30 minute pause and replay feature so you can rewind your programming up to 30 minutes back.
The Audiovox XR9 is one of the newest entries into the XM Radio receiver universe. Its a great little device combining some of the best features from the Skyfi and Roady line into one. It uses a cradle system like the Skyfi line, but is smaller and closer in size to the Roady line. The unit has a very bright blue display, a built in FM transmitter, extended title display, sports and stock tickers. Car and home kits are now available. A boombox will be available in April 2005 for this unit.
